  • MLH Top 50 Class 2021.
  • Problem Solver

Why didn’t I post it earlier ?

Civo actually published my interview and internship experience in one of its blogs . Earlier I thought that it’s enough but after receiving a lot of requests to publish a separate blog on Medium, I decided to write it down now.

How I came across Civo ?

I strongly believe that some things are just meant to happen, that’s exactly how it happened with Civo.

It was in April 2022, I was randomly googling for international jobs offering global pay 💰 to Indians with a remote work culture and a constrained work week (4 days work week). In short, a perfect job. That is when I found Civo’s career page and there was just 1 opening on the careers page, for a full-time Go Developer, which too was posted 1 month ago. I was so sure about the rejection, but I being myself, I applied.

I was specifically looking into cloud-based profiles because I wanted to learn the concepts of Kubernetes, Docker, Cloud, Containers etc. and when I applied for Civo, I had just finished my internship with ShareChat where I was working with Golang. When I found the opening on Civo’s careers page for a Golang Developer, I just applied for it.

Interview Schedule

It was a very simple yet elegant process. This is where Civo won me.

The very next day after I applied, I receive a mail from the CTO of Civo asking if I was looking for an internship or a full-time role as I was a student. I was surprised when I saw that mail, and of course, I replied back that I was interested in an Internship.

I was then asked to schedule an interview at my convenience, and I chose the very next day for the interview(it’s always better to schedule interviews as soon as you can).

Interview Process

Total Interviews — 1

Duration — 30–45 minute

It was a very simple interview, it covered almost everything except DSA. The CTO asked me about my previous work experiences, few HR type questions about my approach towards learning, questions about my skills, everything I had written in my resume. It was more like a conversation than an interview.

Internship Experience

Learnings : 💯 (This is an internship that has taught me the most, I literally was handling few repos like a pro, people still keep tagging me on Civo CLI repo for updates 😆)

Work Culture : 💯 (4 day work week is heaven 🤩. I literally worked more in the 4 days than in the 5 days work week of my previous internships. Besides, the team is 🤌. )

Perks : 💯 (Fully remote, Great pay, flexible work hours, 4 day work week)

Extension offer : ✅ (I could not accept it due to my prior commitments)

Things Civo can improve

Everything is very good at Civo, my team was perfect, the pay was good, flexibility, learnings everything was on point. The company is growing and definitely has a lot to improve which is very natural. So, no suggestions/advices on that.

Thank you Civo.com for giving me this opportunity and wishing all the best for its future 👍🏻.
