Hi all 👋🏻

Last week I successfully finished my internship with ShareChat. Here’s my overall experience.

Learnings : 💯

Work Culture : 💯 (I wish there existed an emoji with a greater score)

Perks : 💯

Extension offer : ✅ (I could not accept it due to my prior commitments)

I started working with ShareChat in January this year. To be honest, I didn’t have great expectations after my not-so-good experience at Swiggy. However, ShareChat just amazed me.

My Team

I worked with the Platform Team at ShareChat and it’s the best. I have never seen or imagined such a happily working team ever. They are a team in real sense. We used to have great fun along with the work. Everyone was super supportive.

I was the only girl in the entire team of 28 people. Usually, it isn’t easy for any such team or the girl to gel up. However, kudos to my team 👏🏻. Not for a second did I ever feel that I am the odd one out. I was welcomed so effortlessly not just in the project discussions but also at the masti time.

Work Culture

If I have to choose one thing that would take ShareChat worldwide, it would be its work culture.

Making the employees feel like a family is an art and ShareChat has excelled in it. Conducting various fun sessions, town halls etc. etc. to keep employees connected is what many companies do. However, ShareChat is a company that also sends you gifts on every special occasions. To any outsider it might be just a simple gift, but when your company cares about your special ones and occasions ❤️, that really pushes you to work harder for the company. (Few gifts the employees received were — Birthday cakes, Toys for the kids of employees, Toys for the pets etc. etc.)

Perks

ShareChat pays interns decently(can’t disclose the exact figure), you receive a MacBook Pro for work and daily Zomato Coupons 😋 (This is the best part. I enjoyed the coupons like hell 🙈).

Learnings

Within the span of just 3 months, I got the opportunity to work on 2 big projects. One project was about rate limiting and the second one was about load balancing(can’t disclose details). Platform team is meant to scale the services and I love optimising and improving systems. So, this was a match made in heaven for me 😇.

One question I expect to receive after this is, “Did I already know all the technologies that were required ? ”

NO. My team members always said that interns are expected to learn new things, so always be open towards learning. And I loved my team for this.

I learnt so much during the process. I don’t think I would have learned so much in any other company even in 6 months, what ShareChat taught me in just 3 months.

Things ShareChat can improve

I never say this because I am very clear headed when I have to look for improvements, but for ShareChat it’s NOTHING. It’s a company where every employee should work at, at least for once.

Fun Story

It was last second weekend of my internship when I realised that my internship was ending next week. Actually 1 other intern in our team was celebrating his last day as an intern with the entire team(He would be joining ShareChat as an FTE after 2 months). I didn’t realise when the 3 months actually got over.

ShareChat literally has been my best working experience so far 🤩. If I did not have any prior commitments, I would have loved continue working with ShareChat.

Thank you ShareChat for giving me this opportunity and wishing it all the best 👍🏻.
